My passion lies in problem solving through the design of seamless experiences. I truly love overcoming challenges, learning by trying, and collaboration in a team I trust, and a product I believe in. My ideal role would allow me to grow in an environment where I can inspire others and support innovation by design.
I was taught Industrial and Product Design in Toronto Canada, beginning with a focus on ergonomics and human factors, leading to web development and digital experiences, and ending with a focus and thesis utilizing design strategy, research, trend analysis, UI design and user experience in the digital and physical space.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of design principles through user experience design and human-computer interaction in service and product focused companies. My professional portfolio consists of the design of lead generating web pages, B2B and B2C email campaigns, corporate applications, development tools and hi-fidelity prototypes.
All that said - in person I have a bubbly personality, love to play, and have the most fun when I can think out of the box with my team. My hope is to continue to develop my ability to speak the language of developer, designer, engineer, and marketer while conceptualizing cool ideas and creating experiences that I would like to have myself.
My main skills include:
I am currently in a contract role as a UX production designer on a wonderful team that owns an internal application for outbound mail campaigns within Google. My main responsibilities include executing and maintaining design prototypes for user testing and development, and interaction design including mockups, concept development, and design thinking. Google is unique and amazing as we always try to design following the principles in the material design component spec, develop prototypes using Angular, and be super Googley by sharing ideas and creations that help us design better. I've gotten to assist in research, user journey mapping, and user testing, developed and now manage a team utility website including app script drive connectivity to help us track work better, and worked on many projects as an interaction designer and prototyper.
Starting as an intern, and moving into a full time position - I held a role at Ingram Micro in the innovative Business Intelligence team. Here, I was responsible for building and assisting in user-centered designs with best practice philosophies, developing home-grown products and platforms that are being created in our fast-paced environment. I got to work in an analytically driven setting, providing strategic and aesthetic insight to problem solve and develop new products and programs.
The exhibition "Where are you REALLY from?" Curated by Jenny Chen, ran from March till mid April in 2016.
The exhbition featured artists exploring the value and complexities of diversity in a community built by a cultural mosaic of people. My piece is a cotton silk-screen banner, designed in Adobe Illustrator in 2013, and explores the structure and color a community of people consists of.MIKA audio is a small startup based out of "Project Rhino", a coworking space that is full of innovation and development of other small businesses. I acted as the only designer on the team, providing assistance with market research, interaction design, product and interface design ideations using Rhino and Keyshot, and web, logo and application prototyping on Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. In addition to this, I participated in social events, marketing the product and some experience in interacting with the innovative community Toronto thrives in.
I spent my final highschool semester engaging in a part-time co-op at one of the top graphic design businesses in town. Here I edited client projects using Corel Draw, and exported vinyl cutting specifications for print. I got to do some graphic design work for client projects like event banners, vehicle decals, window signage and wall decoration, and designed and printed a self-designed wall mural for the employee social space. On top of that, I participated in team discussion for projects, provided design aesthetic input and conducted some research to understand customer needs, and graphic design aesthetic past and future.
I had the pleasure of participating in part-time co-op work for my local TV station, and a part of Canada's largest telecommunication's and media company - Rogers. I operated video and audio equipment for interviews, interviewed subjects personally, and wrote scripts that provided engaging and inspiring conversation about local events. After completing shoots, I edited interviews using AVID editor, selecting ideal shots, maintaining seamless flow of visual narrative and used Rogers assets for visual brand language
Earned the Edward David Aziz Award of Innovative Excellence in Industrial Design at OCADU's 101st Graduate Exhibition.
Conducted many research projects for product design, exploring consumer and market research, trend watching, value proposition modeling, user testing, and prototype making.
The most recent work of mine is research heavy, and focused on user experience above all else, be it for a website, a mobile application or in the design of product and service platform.
I completed my diploma with honours, spending an extra semester in a co-op program exploring local designers and television directors
